2010 in a nutshell =)

December 29, 2010

*Looks sheepish*.

Hello.

Shall I do my updates?

Jennifer Testa

Well, as you can see from previous updates, we sadly lost Manda’s mum to cancer. I attended her funeral with Chris and supported Manda. It was a really nice service and it was obviously really sad as well. In fact, I can’t believe it’s been nearly a year since she died already! Manda seems to be coping well and has got on with her life although not have her mum there in person for Christmas was really hard for her :( I think that’s what I was going to say on this.

Chris

I can’t remember lol. Does that make me a bad girlfriend? This was all the way back in June!

Work

I finished at Open Door but Jackie is trying to get me back there! I was told I hadn’t been allowed back because the guy in charge of payments knows me.

Birds

In May, we got an Avery with cockatiels and with Jack, that makes 8 altogether!

Glasses

I got a pair of Transitions lenses. Yep.

Weddings

This really should be the big one tbh. In June, my cousin Steven got married to Donna:

And in September, Martin and Stephanie got married:

Other things that happened (in no particular order):

Sadly, a few days after this picture was taken, we lost our beautiful boy. His health deteriorated rapidly, he fell asleep and he died at 2am. I regret not doing a separate entry for him as I don’t remember the exact day he died :( RIP old boy, we love you and miss you.

We decorated the bathroom (yes, that is a very bright pink):

Daniel’s 18th birthday:

Got pretty drunk on Jacques cider and brandy. Also had some weird wine stuff that looked like Rosé but tasted like red wine. Bluergh. We also let off chinese lanterns.

Infest:

Got to Bradford at around 8:30am and it was a pretty good weekend. I think we were a bit put out because it was all so different! On the Saturday, we weren’t allowed into the town centre because of riots. When we got to the uni, there was extra security and we could hear the helicopter over the city (which is about a mile away).

London Film and Comic Con:

This was a brilliant day!!! I met the Cigarette Smoking Man and the cast from Being Human! I lost my favourite belly bar though :(

Museum of London:

Our original plan was that Chris had a meeting with an employment agency in Farringdon and as it turns out, we went for a wander and discovered that the Museum of London was a few minutes walk away! So we went off and it was good! I’ve been there before and it was only the bit about Celtic Britain that reminded me of what it was like when I went there. The Victorian section freaked me out a little as it felt like I remembered what it was like. Chris described it as deja vu. The little Vauxhall exhibition freaked me out even more because it was so familiar.

Leysdown:

We went to the Isle of Sheppey the week before Halloween and it was good but cold. The sea was really high so the beach was closed. Dunican knocked his pint on my lap and I felt tipsy on lager for the first time ever. Um… that’s about it lol.

Buffy/Angel:

This year, I got back into Buffy and Angel in a big way. Collecting stuff and I have all the DVD’s now too. Loads of books! Buffy’s silver cross. Just finished the Buffy DVD’s and have a whole season of Angel left. I am sad about this. I need to get a big shelf in my room for all my stuff :p

THE HAIR:

White blonde, pink, fruit salad, pink and blonde, Katie Weasel, golden mahogany brown, Rod Stewart and now darker golden mahogany brown. My hair has seen a lotta colours this year.

Burlesque:

NotmuchtosayotherthanIhaven’tseenityet #badstan

Snow:

We had a lotta snow this year! On three separate occasions; January, November and December. If it had snowed like that at the same time, it would have been the same amount of snow we had in February 2009! It snowed the week before xmas and disappeared yesterday after a few days of ice rink.

Christmas 2010:

Nothing spectacular happened tbh. I got Jack the Ripper: The Casebook, The Titanic Experience book, loads of chocolate, Hello Kitty brush with my name on it, Buffy silver cross necklace, Snuggie, slippers, 2 china Geisha dolls, Buffy Watcher’s Guide vol. 3… um… I don’t remember what else lol.

I think that’s about it to be honest. 2010 has been a bit crap lol. Hope 2011 is better :) I’ve got a few plans tbh.

  • Do an 8-week pre-Navy training training course (I wanted to join the Navy but thanks to Labybloodyrinthbloodyitis, I can’t!
  • Start my Interior Design Courses with the National Design Academy. It’ll start off with Diploma then I’ll go onto Foundation Degree and then BA(Hons).
  • Finish learning to drive.
  • They’re my main goals!

But yeah. That’s all for now.

    Yes, so… Um… I was meant to update wasn’t I?

    January 30, 2010

As to last night, I was tired and couldn’t be bothered to write and fell asleep at 11:30pm… Hmm.

So last Monday(!), I started my new job. I love the building and the area it’s in; it’s the heart of derelict Croydon which if you know me, you’d know that I love that stuff. I can see the near derelict St. George’s Walk from my office window! Gah, I love it. I was told that the whole St. George’s Walk area was due to be demolished and developed but the buyer pulled out. The government is now trying to get people back in the buildings. The kitchen overlooks Pop World and Victorian Croydon (and you know how I feel about all things Victorian!). It’s weird being in a big (half derelict) building rather than in two little units in the middle of an industrial estate in the middle of nowhere. There’s a near empty vending machine and we’re next to an accountants and a computer company. The first, second and third floors are empty! I think the third floor has people on it sometimes cos I’m sure there was a light on at some point during the week. I use the stairs as I hate lifts but we’re not on the 10th floor or anything (there isn’t a 10th floor) so I don’t mind the stairs. They remind me of the marbled stairs you get in school, actually.

So when I started on Monday, there was Jackie the boss and someone else who works on Mondays and Thursdays. I was only there for an hour so that doesn’t count :P

So Tuesday… um… what did I do? Not a lot. Worked out my times as 10am to 2:30pm, Monday to Friday. We looked at the website and decided what we would do to change it. Um… then I went home. Oh wait, I think that’s when we had an induction thing.

Wednesday, someone called Carlon started. I like him but he’s a bit weird and talks to himself, praising himself and telling himself that’s he’s a genius… Not used to having a male in the office. lol. I typed up the thing for the website and started something else (what was it?). Oh yeah, the Croydon Women’s Scheme Information Sheet. Then I went home.

Thursday, I finished the WS thing (I think). Why can’t I remember anything about Thursday?

Friday, I went through the Benefits manual and Googled, Wiki’d and wrote down things that needed updating as the booklet came out in 2004. To be honest, I just think that she wants to give me stuff to do! Most of the manual was still up to date as well.

There was other stuff I was gonna write about but I can’t remember it now. Everytime I answer the rarely ringing phone, I’m always nearly saying Zafron. Lol. Habit, I guess :P

What else has happened this week? Chris started playing my X-Files game and LOL at Polygon Mulder, Polygon Scully, Polygon Skinner, Polygon Lone Gunmen, Polygon Krychek, Polygon Marita and Polygon CGB Spender! They have their mannerisms and it’s high-larious.

OOH! I didn’t write about Manda’s birthday, did I? It was so good seeing her after ages (August)! She looked gorgeous! Took us 45 minutes to get there as we got lost in Croydon (don’t ask). We were there until about 10:30pm but still, seeing Manda was the reason I was there. Now I’m working in Croydon, I’ll see her more I hope!

I keep getting a pain in my ear :(

What else was I gonna talk about? I dunno. Oh, we got a tiny bit of snow last night! I thought it was all over but obviously not. I mean, it’s still snow season and the stuff that we’d get now will be our usual westerly snow, not the hard stuff we got from the east at the end of December/early January so it wouldn’t stick around for as long. The sky is clear blue at the moment. It was -1 earlier but my weather gadget is saying it’s 2 degrees now. It was practically a heatwave with temperatures of 7 degrees the other week!

Anyways. Might add more later (I always say that, don’t I?)

Do I actually have anything to say?

    January 10, 2010

    I don’t think so really.

Other than that my laptop was received by the TechGuys (they sent me a text this morning) although I sent it to them on Tuesday. Hoping that means that they’re actually working on it now. They said that they’ll contact me in five days so that’s not so bad.

    Got hiccups now.

Have been writing my story again! Was gonna wait until I had lappy back but I couldn’t help myself – I had to keep on writing. Raj said that they were stuck in space and time :P

I don’t have much else to say now tbh. Oh, it’s STILL snowing. Hardly enough to call it actual snow though but we had a big snowfall on Wednesday and off and on since then. Snowed for a couple of hours yesterday. The snow is melting really quick now though. We’re meant to get another batch of it today/tonight.

    Girl, bye.

(Spending way too much time on LD atm – Xtina’s coming back ;) )

    Well, that was an adventure…

    January 6, 2010

So last night, it started to snow. It hasn’t stopped. When I woke up at 8:30 when Martin rang me for seemingly no reason, the snow had seemed to have stopped. When Chris woke me up later on however, it had started again but rather lightly and as the day wore on, it got heavier. I had to go to the job centre today and when we got to Sutton, it was really coming down! 30 minutes later, we were getting on the bus. This is where the fun starts!

Getting through Sutton wasn’t so bad until we got to the foot of Ringstead Road which is basically a big hill. As the snow was getting heavier, the road was getting more and more covered in snow. The driver obviously thought that he was gonna have a go at getting up the hill and boy, did he try! We started slowly and carefully, obviously trying to keep the bus on a straight course. Then the engine started roaring. Every few inches or so, you felt the bus slide back slightly, which is what they’re built to do. The engine got louder and you could hear the bus groaning as the driver pushed it up the hill. Then came the smell of burning rubber and the sound of the wheels spinning in the snow. The passengers (including me and Chris) were laughing and giving the bus encouragement! That’s us Brits for you, always banding together in a crisis :P About half way up, we stopped to let some people off, then we started making our ascent once again. Martin rang me and said that Steph was on the bus behind us which was now at the foot of the hill. With some correspondence back and forth and to home, it turns out that the other driver wasn’t going to risk it and abandoned ship. I rang Steph and she said she was making her way up the hill to wait for another bus. There were two cars and another bus were waiting at the top for us. At one point, I didn’t think we were gonna make it! We stopped for a couple of minutes at the top, seemingly so the bus could get it’s breath back. After around ten or fifteen minutes, we made it and made our way slowly towards the junction. An American had come to sit next to us and he said, “well, that was fun, I feel like we should all be clapping now!” :D

The rest of the journey wasn’t so bad if slow. The Carshalton Park Road hill wasn’t so bad and when we got to our stop, a few people got off the bus with cries of thank you and well done to the driver!

Got home, relayed our adventure and then we went out to feed the bunneh’s. The hutches are cosy! They had a sheet covering the fronts and a sheet of silver insulation stuff covering the top, back and sides. Plus, the snow on top would be keeping them warm too. It looks like the snow is moving away from us now but I’ve heard that there’s more on the way. Still, this is nothing compared to Denmark! They are literally snowed in! Haha!

Anyways, I might add more later!

    Farvel!

    Snow!

    January 6, 2010

    That is all :)

    Oh also:

Nicolai and Rasmus are teaching me so we can speak to each other in broken Danish! It’s pretty easy really, reminds me a lot of German! And my laptop went for repair today!

    Gooooooood afternoon

    January 3, 2010

So my laptop is being picked up on Tuesday FINALLY after months of procrastination so by the 15th, *I should* have it back. As long as the TechGuys get off their arses and fix it pronto! Hope to get it back before 2 weeks! I miss it too much now and am getting fed up of having a numb bum and getting a backache by sitting on this chair on Chris’ PC. Can’t wait to be able to sit on the sofa next to Chris and continue writing Danzatore. Gah, I just miss it.

Well, it was just sleeting outside but it seems to have stopped now :( Was hoping for some more snow – the clouds are the right colour for it (that funny grey colour). Hoping it’ll start again soon cos it’s pretty cloudy and dark out there.

I didn’t wake up till 1:45pm, I was having really weird dreams!

I really can’t be bothered. Might add more later.

So I cut my hair last night…

    December 20, 2009

Surprisingly, it came out really well! It’s layered all over and at the front, bringing the purpleness out more. It feels a lot lighter! Don’t have much of a ponytail now though. About time I cut my hair, I’ve had enough of it! It was right down to my bum earlier this year then I had about six inches taken off of it. Then last night I saw the scissors and thought, “sod it!” and looked up how to do it on Google. It hasn’t taken a lot off the length but I did cut off a lot of hair! It’s at the length I wanted it to be at now – just above my elbows. The shortest bit hangs just under my chin! I’ve had it layered before – for Caroline’s wedding in 2000 and Christine did it in Selsey in 2004/2005 I think.

Pics here. My mum and dad thought that I had added more colour to it and were like o_O but once I had washed it, they could see the layering. Mum said that she thinks that it looks tatty! It’s a bit uneven but it looks feathery. I wanna put it back up into a greatly reduced ponytail but it’s keeping me warm :P it’s cold today and it’s getting colder (as well as dark).

I don’t think it’s gonna snow again although it’s supposed to tomorrow. At least then the ice rink outside will be covered again! I’m telling you, it’s dangerous out there. It’s like walking on wet glass. Ironically, the safest place to walk is in the road! The pavements are totally non-negotionable! You have to literally hold on for dear life! They’ve hardly gritted anywhere around here. You can’t walk up my road without danger of breaking something! Chris’ dad slipped over and sprained his wrist when it snowed in February! My dad fell over too on his paper-round. I worry about him (especially on a Sunday because of all the papers he has to carry) because the roads where he delivers are all back streets and they’re always worse.

Feeling a bit better than yesterday so touch wood, I won’t be ill at Christmas for the third year running! I feel exactly how I felt before the chest infection of 2007 and the chest cold of 2008 came out. 2007 was awful, it really was. I hardly got out of bed for two weeks. I lost weight because I had no appetite and only managed a few scraps of turkey. When we got up at about eight, I ended up going back to bed and forcing myself to go to my Nan and Grandad’s. At midnight on New Years Eve, I was watching a Take That concert! Last year wasn’t so bad though. The reason, I think, I was so ill in 2007 was because we went out for our Xmas do to Croydon and it was about -2! Then last year, it started when we went to Brighton on the 27th of December, then the Natural History Museum and then The Horniman Museum. Last winter was so cold and by New Years Eve, I was coughing all over again!

Going to CDG tomorrow but finishing on Wednesday (thank god).

Anyway, starting to feel a bit dizzy now. Laterz.

    Mwahaha!

    December 20, 2009

Just cut my hair into layers.

Also – it’s raining/sleeting outside so maybe we’ll get some snow? It’s snowing heavily in Hertfordshire at the moment and that’s a county above us so who knows? The Met Office and others seem to think we’re gonna get some more so fingers crossed!
